Turn your ordinary plain guitar pedal into a "boutique" pedal by modifying it...
Turn any guitar pedal into a bass guitar pedal...
Customize your effects to sound HUGE and AMAZING
It's easy to do - let me show you how...
How many times have you bought a pedal from your local Guitar Center or on Ebay only to receive it and find out it sound like total garbage? It's frustrating, isn't it!?
You may or may not know this, but nearly any pedal can be "modified" by changing certain parts inside of them...you may want more bass, more distortion, less "brittleness" out of your pedal...maybe you just want your pedal to sound like the newest $400 pedal everyone is buying on ebay or your favorite guitar forum.
In reality, almost any pedal can be totally customized and modified according to YOUR tastes and YOUR equipment. For example, if you've ever used a Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal (the orange one), you probably think that it is a one trick pony...that trick being medium gain, no mids, and a useless tone control. No good low gain sounds, there isn't a ton of gain available, and the pedal isn't even close to being "organic" sounding, warm, full bodied, and full of life like a good boutique pedal.
Of course, for an average used price of $30 on ebay, who could complain? It could never sound like that vintage distortion pedal you see on ebay selling for $500+, right?
(BZZZZZZZZ!!!) WRONG!!
In reality, there are just a handful of basic circuits, and 99% of the pedals available today are just variations of these circuits...heck, alot of them are exact clones of the basic circuit! I can't tell you how many times I've opened an overdrive pedal only to find it is basically just a plain-jane bone stock tubescreamer.
| An actual customer emailed me recently...
"your books and forum have really inspired me - I use to mess around with pedals some 25 years ago and everything I tried failed to the point where I just gave up.
All the electronic books and magazines that I use to read seemed to make everything sound so complicated. Your books have changed all that and have given me the confidence to once again pick up the soldering iron. I will never look at another distortion pedal the same way again.
Keep up the good work.
Best regards.
Norbert"

What is a "mod"?
***********************************************
Guitar pedal modifications were popularized by Robert Keeley and Analogman in the late 90's and early 2000's. You've no doubt heard about the huge change in tone you get simply by getting a pedal modified.
Around 2002 or so, I started doing similar type of mods and started compiling a list of tons of different pedals and different ways to modify them for great guitar tone. Today, we have modifications for over 80 different pedals! We are constantly adding new ones too. These are downloadable videos, PDF files (like an ebook), and huge detailed pictures all detailing exactly what to do, where to do it and how to do it, all explained in plain everyday language that all of us normal non-engineer types use.
There's no complicated math, no crazy formulas, no "geek speak" - just complete details on how to modify the pedal of your choice.

Common Questions
***********************************************
Can anyone really do it? How easy is it?
Very easy...just follow the step by step directions and you WILL have success. It isn't dangerous at all, and very hard to actually ruin a pedal by making a mistake. I assume that you have no experience at all, and show you everything from how to solder/desolder, how the find the components on the circuit board, inside tips, tricks, and hints, as well as designing and installing more complicated circuits once you get good and familiar with modding. This is done with videos and pdf ebooks, all downloaded instantly and saved to your computer.
What do the pedals sound like after modification?
Take a listen to our soundclips page (http://www.indyguitarist.com/soundclips) to listen to mp3's of before and after modifications. However, included with your purchase is technical support provided by me. I will help you create your own modifications for a sound specific to your own needs and desires. Also, if you have a pedal that is not listed, simply get a schematic from the manufacturer (they will usually email you one) and forward it to me. I will create mods especially for you.
Is it expensive?
Actually no...typical parts for a modification may run $5 or so (you can purchase them here). While the most popular pedal modification companies modify pedals for $40-75 each, they won't tailor the mod for you. For example, if you have a bright fender amp and also a dark peavey or mesa boogie amp, you want a pedal to work well with both right? We'll show you how to connect and install switches so you can go from a bright amp to a dark amp at the flick of the switch, and still have great tone. True flexibility!
